In what can only be described as a predictable display of Rome’s Marian idolatry, the newly elected Pope Leo XIV took to the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica for his first public prayer. The world watched as the first words from the new “Vicar of Christ” were not directed heavenward to the Savior, but to Mary.
As the cameras rolled and the crowds of papists cheered, the new pope, fresh from his election, chose to address his plea not to Christ but to His “mother.”
Our mother, Mary Always wants to walk with us, to be near, to help us with her intercession and love. So I would like to pray together. Let us pray together for this new mission, for the whole Church, for peace in the world. And we ask for this special grace of Mary.
