Megachurch to Celebrate Weed-Themed Easter Sunday Because it Falls on 4/20

There’s a certain kind of pastor out there — the kind who treats the pulpit like a podcast, treats Easter like a punchline, and treats the gospel like a marketing gimmick.

Meet Gary Lamb.

Gary Lamb is the self-styled “lead pastor” of Action Church in Canton, Georgia—a church that, if we’re being brutally honest, is less concerned with making disciples and far more concerned with making noise.

Case in point? His latest masterpiece of spiritual malpractice is promoting Easter Sunday 2025 not as the celebration of Christ’s victory over sin and death... but as 420 Day. Yes—that 4/20.

Here’s Gary Lamb, in his own words, from a recent Action Church promo video:

"What's up guys, Gary Lamb, lead pastor of Action Church in Canton, Georgia, and Easter Sunday is almost here. Did you realize that Easter Sunday is on 4/20 this year? Don't worry, we did. Got the munchies? We got a hot breakfast ready to be served at 9:15. Service starts at 10 o'clock. We'd love to have you as our personal guest on Easter Sunday at Action Church."

This isn’t satire. This isn’t parody. This is what passes for “pastoral leadership” in far too many corners of modern American evangelicalism.

Imagine standing at the foot of the cross, blood dripping from the torn body of the Son of God, and the guy next to you is elbowing his buddy going, “Heh...420, bro.” That’s Gary Lamb's brand of relevance. This isn’t just cringe. This is irreverence on a catastrophic scale.
