That the Most High, Holy, omnipotent Creator of Heaven and earth would stoop down so low, to do This FOR us, even while we were yet sinners, astonishes me. More and more each passing day.

Amen and amen! It is finished. The ransom is made. Thank You for the Cross Oh Lord. Thank You for rescuing us!

“It was the day of the great exchange: the death of Jesus for the eternal life of those who believe. It was the day when the guilt of sin was lifted from the shoulders of the faithful, and in a divine exchange, God declared His people righteous before Him. This monumental day heralded the triumph of Jesus over sin and death, ensuring the salvation of countless souls.”

This is where I struggle the most with my salvation. The “guilt of sin” lingers and destroys. How does one get over their “guilt” when the memory retains it, the flesh tempts again, and the Spirit fails again, and the guilt becomes destructive and causes self doubt? This happens to too many especially when it comes to our sexual desires.

Well, yes, that exchange WAS completed, and the head of the serpent crushed. But as on any snake, the tail still wiggles. See your struggles as just that, and nothing more, a wiggling tail of the serpent, the devil. He HAS put to death our sinful nature and IS putting it to death. And, remember it is not our salvation, but His. It is a gift. He gives it to us.

We’re free from the law of sin and death. I was called by the Father before the foundation of the earth. Ephesians 1:4. Don’t sin, but you will, you know it, God does too. Fear bring insecurity. Don’t fear. Relax, it’s over.

Isaiah ch 53

1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

4 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah Ch 53 ... one of my favorite passages in the whole of the Bible, a poetic summation of the life of Jesus and, in the final line (v. 6), God the Father and God the Son's greatest gift to us ... we are redeemed! Glorious!

Amazing how that Isaiah, 800 years before Christ wrote that, Huh? But, of course we know Who inspired it! :-) ALL of Holy Writ is God breathed.

Absolutely true. The deeper I get in my understanding of scripture, the more that very fact takes my breath away .... it's HUMBLING!

And so, Christ Jesus said: "Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever heareth my words, and believeth on Him who sent me, has everlasting Life, and shall not come into judgment, but has ALREADY passed from death unto Life!" John 5:24. Quite a promise, huh?

It isn't that often that we see the words, "Verily, verily." Another way it is translated is "Most assuredly."

Jesus told His disciples that everything He had said to them would be brought back to their memories. So, that we can be absolutely sure.

"John 5:24. Quite a promise, huh?" : He keeps his promises. On THAT we can trust. He has gifted everything we know to us, it's all of his making. I find myself in my end-of-the-day-prayers say "thank you" to Him in a long litany of items that he gave me throughout the day (i.e. comfort and calm in stressful situations, insight that COULDN'T have been a product of my puny brain, and snippets of scripture that give wisdom and guidance, et cetera). Wondrous.

When will believers understand that it is not mathematically or historically possible for Jesus to have been crucified on Friday?

Is it religion that compels believers to believe this lie? Why would I care you might ask? Well, it’s a direct denial of what we are told in scripture. If Jesus crucified at the 3rd hour of the day 9am (Mark 15:25-37), then died at the 9th hour which is 3pm in the afternoon, and the tomb was discovered early Sunday morning (Mark 16:2), how can this be 3 days and three nights which Jesus himself said he would be in the grave (Matthew 12:40).

So to believe that on Friday Jesus was crucified, not only is illogical, it is heretical.

It matters because if Jesus said not one jot or tittle will be erased from his Word, he certainly wouldn’t want us believing such a big error in the teaching of what happened almost 2000 years ago.

Besides, look what has become of it, everybody gets all religious this week into Sunday, then Monday they go right back at following the gods of this world.

Do what you all want, but I for one will never follow the religious teachings of men, and will stick fully to the Word of God and believe in faith, and in the Spirit.

Mark, yes, our Lord was crucified at "the 3rd hour of the day" but that was 9 am, 3 hours after sunrise.

I did get that mixed up, he died on the 9th hour (Mark 15:34-37), which was 3pm. 9am was when he was sentenced and crucified.

Even if you count it at his sentencing, it still doesn’t work for it to be Friday and that is just pure man made religion.

GOOD Post... just a point. Most Jews never knew what was happening. Jesus was sent to Pilate early morning... The crowds of Jews outside the city and inside did not know what was happening...The crowd that called for Barrabus was the heir lings, and servants of the High Priest.

The sabbath was not the weekly sabbath that was on Saturday, it was the sabbath for the celebration of Passover, which was on Friday. This is why when he died at 3pm (Thursday) they had to hurry to bury him before the start of Passover sabbath which would start at 6pm (which was Friday night as in Jewish tradition back then, a day started with the night and ended with the day, and was 6pm to 6am not 12pm to 12am). Then the weekly sabbath started the next day on Saturday night (6pm) so that is why the women came to the tomb Sunday early because they didn’t get a change to annoint his body in the rush to bury him on Thursday. It can be very confusing, but the writers of the Bible were Jewish and they understood quite well what days were which, it just changed due to the influence of Rome to what we use today for a calendar and how we mark a day. So three days and three nights fits with the story of Jonah because you start with Thursday day, and end with Sunday day. Add them up, that is 3 days and 3 nights. This also agrees with Hewish history and the lunar cycles as to when the Passover sabbath actually occurred during the year most scholars believe Jesus was crucified.

So even you said it, it is not possible to have 3 days and 3 nights with a Friday crucifixtion, that is why this bothers me so much because all these long years most people do know this, or choose to ignore it and refuse to make any sense of it.

Also, the last supper was the Passover preparation meal. That was prepared Wednesday day, eaten Thursday night and then Jesus was taken early Thursday day to be tried then crucified and died by 3pm. All explained, so stop comemorating Good Friday, celebrate the resurrection, not just tomorrow or once a year, but every day of your believing life!

It amazes me that you see that it is unfortunate that the commemoration of the day Jesus rose from the dead has been termed ‘Easter Sunday’ but rightfully should be called ‘Resurrection Sunday’ but cannot comprehend that it is not possible to have 3 days and 3 nights counting from Friday ‘day’.

He died on Thursday, which makes math and Jewish history both agree with the Word of God.

Scriptures say that the day following was the Sabbath, so His crucifixion had to have been on Friday. But how that can be like Jonah's 3 days and 3 nights in the whale, I do not know.

Prolly not. I'm taking time this Good Friday to let the solemn message of the cross wash over my heart, as though He sacrificed Himself here where I live, in Arizona.

“It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.” If the third hour was 9 a.m (3 hours after sunrise), then there was darkness after the death of Jesus from noon to three in the afternoon.

It is now high noon here.
