One of the things threatening the Colossian church was the heresy that denied the deity of Christ.

Why would anyone think Paul would use a term in the context to support that heresy?

First born, or πρωτότοκος (prōtótokos) here clearly means highest in rank, not first created.

Paul was clearly stating that Christ was God.

Jeff wrote - Here's the plain truth, a Christ who is not fully God is a false Christ, a mirage incapable of offering eternal salvation.

Amen, Jeff, amen. That'll preach.

Morons, as well, hold that Christ Jesus was a created being. Doctrines of demons--demonic doctrines everywhere.

"Firstborn" is the title of "heir". Jesus is THE heir of all creation. (Matt 21:38, Rom 8:17, Heb 1:2)

Those who do not set well with having their "lifestyle" seen as sinful, do not want a Jesus that is a Savior from sin. They are fine with their celebratory sin/s. "Go and sin some more!,"as the homosexual sodomite Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence say :-/ And the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were honored at Dodger Stadium "pride night" this past summer. Honored!

"They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!" ~ Romans 1:32 (The Message)
