I wasn’t sure if we would ever see an atrocity committed against children as evil as abortion. But as I scrolled through the images of two men holding newborn babies on the Instagram page “menhavingbabies,” the smiles on their faces beaming with pride, something twisted inside me.

These are not just some “feel-good” stories, despite what the world would have us believe. No, it’s a spectacle of mankind’s rebellion against God’s created order, a showcase of our culture’s total abandonment of truth and life. What I saw in these images were clear illustrations of Romans 1 playing out before our very eyes.

We live in a time where men now claim to be “fathers” in the most perverse sense of the word, engaging in the ultimate mockery of family, by purchasing babies through surrogacy. The very act of ripping a child away from the natural bond of a mother—before they even have a chance to experience that God-given relationship—is evil. What’s worse, it’s being celebrated as progress, as “love.” But what love sacrifices a child’s need for a mother on the altar of personal gratification? This is not love. It’s self-worship.

Just a few decades ago, the idea of two men commissioning the creation of children for their own pleasure would have been unthinkable. But today, it’s celebrated with pride, plastered all over social media, praised in the press, and upheld as a marker of progress. But really, this is nothing more than humanity spiraling deeper into the abyss of God’s judgment.

The atrocity of “men having babies” stands shoulder to shoulder with abortion in its evil. Both are rooted in the same rebellion against God, both dehumanize children in the same way, and both display a society that has been given over to dishonorable passions.

Abortion says, “This child is inconvenient, let’s get rid of it.” Surrogacy says, “This child is a commodity, let’s create it and draft it into our perverse lifestyle.” In both cases, the child is reduced to an object—an obstacle or a product—rather than a sacred life created in the image of God.

Romans 1 is clear about what happens when people reject God and His truth. When society suppresses the truth in unrighteousness, God gives them up to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies. That’s exactly what we see in the normalization of homosexuality and, now, this perverse distortion of family.

And these men aren’t just confused, either. They’re living proof and embodiment of God’s judgment. They’ve been given over to their lusts, to their dishonorable passions. The fact that they parade this before the world, believing that they are virtuous, only shows the depth of their delusion. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools,” says the Apostle Paul. I can’t think of a clearer example.

But it’s not just about these men or the children they’ve purchased. This is about a society that celebrates the rejection of God’s created order. This is about a culture that has been so blinded by sin that it now worships the creature rather than the Creator.
