The North American Mission Board (NAMB) is the church planting network of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) which is funded by the SBC Cooperative Program. The SBC and NAMB have taken a lot of heat over the years for their mission drift as it has joined the ranks of the "woke church" movement as it has abandoned the gospel as its first love.
The Southern Baptist Convention is currently at a crossroads where the denomination must decide its trajectory. Will it continue its current slide into social justice activism -- which will eventually lead to full apostasy -- or will the leadership step up and lead the denomination back to the gospel?
In the current zeitgeist of wokeness and social activism, the SBC has taken a radical position on women in leadership even, in many ways, defying the denomination's official stance on women in leadership. Several Southern Baptist churches, including Dwight McKissic's -- who now says he's getting off the SBC bus -- have women in functioning pastoral roles. But perhaps one of the most blatant examples of this defiance is a new church plant by NAMB that recently put out a video with a woman claiming to be "one of the pastors" of the new church.
The woman's name is Jamie Farver who claims to be a pastor at 1Name Church. The video was posted on the church's Facebook page where the church is promoting what it calls a "love your neighbor challenge."
On the church's website, under the "meet our pastors" section, Jamie is described as an "incredible wife, mother, and leader."
"She has over 10 years of full-time ministry experience and has a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry from Trinity International University. Because of her experience, Jamie is well acquainted with both the joys and struggles of pioneering a local church. Her wisdom, discernment, and leadership skills will greatly benefit the launch and establishment of 1NAME Church in South Florida."
Apparently, her "wisdom" and "discernment" fell short while reading 1 Corinthians 14:34, "the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says."
The Baptist Faith and Message 2000, the official statement of faith of the Southern Baptist Convention clearly conveys the Biblical intent of the pastorate which limits the office to men. "While both men and women are gifted for service in the church," the statement reads, "the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture."
If NAMB is now actively planting churches with women pastors, NAMB should be immediately defunded by the Southern Baptist Convention and by local churches contributing to the Cooperative Program.
There is nothing as contentious as a mutinous woman who believes that her will to supersede the instruction of the Lord God I AM is acceptable to Him. Her position as a "pastrix" will not only be her spiritual ruin but bring to bear the spiritual ruin of those who do not consider her preaching/teaching to be the act of high treason against I AM's will.
The work of demons will be brought to bear through her pride and arrogance; and no matter how much Scripture she quotes and how pleasant or fulfilling seems her teaching, or how inspiring are her words, or how wonderful she is as a mother and wife and "leader"--those accolades and badges of honor that are given her by the visible church as well as the SBC's NAMB are not acceptable to nor honored by the Trice-Holy God I AM WHO I AM.
Even Eve would hold the pastrix in greatest disregard and speak condemnation to her. The deception in Eden is a like-mannered sedition acted upon by the "pastrix" and her enablers. Each time a pastor allows a pastrix to instruct men from their pulpit or allows her to be an associate-pastrix, extreme reprimand should come against allowing such thievery.
What more will it take for the defiant to understand how very grievous is their shoo-shooing away of such a terrible affront to God Almighty? Not until they see that the depth and breadth and height and expanse of their sin is to be likened as similar to, if not exactly as the Devil's "I will."
