In the wake of President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, speculation has mounted about his potential successors. Among the most discussed candidates is North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, rumored to be a leading contender for Vice President on a Harris-Cooper ticket.
The mainstream media, in its usual fashion, attempts to paint Cooper as a mild-mannered, level-headed center-leftist. But having lived under his draconian rule here in North Carolina, I can assure you that the reality is far more troubling.
Roy Cooper is no benign moderate—he is a draconian socialist tyrant who believes himself to be above the law. His policy decisions and strong-arm tactics have left a trail of destruction across our state.
Thankfully, he’s now a lame duck with a Republican veto-proof majority to keep his worst impulses in check.
Cooper’s tenure as governor has been marked by a series of heavy-handed mandates and executive orders, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He imposed sweeping mask mandates and social distancing requirements, always without regard for the actual data.
Even when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dropped their mask recommendations, Cooper’s sycophants urged him to maintain the mandate indefinitely, showcasing his disregard for personal freedoms. Like all Democrat governors, his rules were not based on science but on a desire to control and dictate the lives of North Carolinians.
One of the most egregious examples of Cooper's authoritarianism was his decision to fast-track the release of 3,500 prisoners during the pandemic, caving to pressure from the NAACP. To normal people, such a move was recognized as an endangering of the public and demonstrated his willingness to prioritize political correctness over the well-being of law-abiding citizens.
Cooper’s administration claimed this was to protect inmates from COVID-19, but it was a transparent attempt to appease leftist activists at the expense of community safety.
