Homosexual Advocates Confirm That Andy Stanley's "Gay Christian" Conference Was "Fully Affirming"
We’ve been following the aftermath of Andy Stanley’s Unconditional “gay Christianity” conference this past week. Often when analyzing the content of secret meetings in quasi-religious groups like these, it’s difficult to cut through the nuance and ambiguity to see what was clearly being promoted. More often than not, the leaders of these groups leave enough plausible deniability to retort either side of the issue who walks away not fully satisfied with its conclusion. Words are often minced and while Bible-believing Christians are typically able to discern the compromise, the homosexuals are still often dissatisfied with their inability to just outright affirm them.
That was clearly not the case, as confirmed by the homosexuals and their advocates at this meeting. Zach Lambert, who pastors Restore Church in Austin, TX, recently preached a “sermon” about homophobia and transphobia where he affirms these perversions against God and nature while arguing that the Bible has nothing to say about this sin, was among those who confirmed the fully-affirming position of North Point and the speakers at this conference.
In a post on Twitter, Lambert writes:
I went to be with some dear friends, but more than that, I wanted to see if this conference would be yet another bait and switch. A space that claimed to be safe and supportive of LGBTQ+ folks, but was actually all about telling them they need to leave behind their sexual orientation and/or gender identity to fully follow Jesus.
Y’all, it was NOT a bait and switch! It was safe, supportive and affirming. They explicitly communicated they were not trying to change anyone’s theology, and they didn’t, but every speaker, video, book and breakout I saw fully affirmed LGBTQ+ folks! I saw pastors advocating for inclusion, parents welcoming their children’s same-sex partners into the family, trans folks sharing their transition stories, and queer people leading at literally every level.
The warning from 2 Timothy 4:3-4 couldn't be more applicable to today's era of moral relativism and compromised “Christianity.”
