Gun Control Will Be The Collapse of American Freedom

VA Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s push to criminalize commonly used home protection devices—also known as semiautomatic firearms—is the latest chapter in America’s long-running war against decent human beings while empowering criminals.

The argument is, of course, dressed up in the language of “safety,” wrapped in soft-focus emotionalism, and sold to urban lululemon moms like a bottle of miracle tonic at a roadside snake-oil revival. But underneath all the slogans and choreographed outrage sits the same old instinct… distrust decent people, restrain decent people, burden decent people, while predators continue doing what predators have always done.

That is the rotten center of modern gun control.

The people pushing gun control speak of AR-15s as though they are some kind of mythical battlefield artifact possessed only by violent extremists. In reality, millions of ordinary Americans, myself included, own semiautomatic rifles legally and responsibly. Fathers. Contractors. Mechanics. Veterans. Church members. Widows living alone.

Rural families forty minutes from the nearest deputy. People who hear a bump in the night and understand that 911 is not a teleportation device. A dispatcher cannot climb through your bedroom window and stop a man high on meth with a tire iron.

Yet Spanberger and the elite political class with private armed security want Americans to believe these firearms are uniquely evil because they look scary to MSNBC interns and wine-drunk activists in Northern Virginia cul-de-sacs.

Enough.

The truth is painfully obvious to anybody still capable of independent thought. Criminals are emboldened when we become hostile toward self-defense. They watch prosecutors crucify homeowners for fighting back. They watch police officers dragged through the mud for using force against violent suspects.

They watch mobs cheer for repeat offenders while treating armed citizens like unstable vigilantes. And they absorb the message loud and clear—good people are hesitant, afraid, legally vulnerable, socially stigmatized, and psychologically neutered.

That hesitation creates victims.

And criminals know it.
