The words of our Lord Jesus Christ, "For zeal for Your house has consumed me" (Psalm 69:9), serve as a clarion call to all who profess to be followers of Christ. The House of God, the Church, is under constant attack from the forces of darkness and deception, and it is our sacred duty to defend and uphold the purity of doctrine and behavior within the Church.
For far too long, the Church has been plagued by the cancerous malignancy of heresy and compromise as those who call themselves Christians have allowed themselves to be swayed by the false teachings and deceptions of the secular world. The doctrine of young earth creation, the literal existence of Adam and Eve, the concept of Penal Substitutionary Atonement, the Virgin Birth, eternal punishment, and male headship, are but a few examples of teachings that have been called into question by those who seek to undermine the authority of Scripture.
But let us be clear, as believers, we do not have the authority, nor the right, to question that which has been established clearly by Scripture as unshakeable truth simply because we want to appear "open-minded" or "progressive." To do so is nothing short of an act of rebellion and arrogance against the Word of God. It is a sin to question the truth of God's Word, and it is not noble or honest to even pretend to debate it.
Of course, as we read and study the Scriptures, perhaps being new in the faith or if we are unsure of whether or not God has spoken on a particular subject, it is appropriate to ask to genuinely seek clarity. That isn’t what we’re speaking of here. However, once it has been determined that Scripture clearly claims that God has spoken, our response must be one of belief and obedience. To open the door to false teachings and false prophets, in the name of being "honest" or "open-minded," is a grave disservice to the Church and to the Lord.
The Almighty God, the Creator of the universe, is a God of purging. He is a God of righteousness and justice, and He will not tolerate rebellion within the ranks of His Church. It is written in 1 Corinthians 5:13, "God judges those outside. 'Purge the evil person from among you.'" This is not an optional command, but rather a mandate that must be followed with utmost conviction and unwavering obedience.
As the Church, we have a sacred duty to defend and uphold the purity of doctrine and behavior within the Church, and this includes purging the rebellious from among our ranks. The Church must take a stand against those who seek to undermine the foundations of our faith, those who reject the very doctrine that defines us as Christians, and those who masquerade as believers while spreading heresies and apostasies.
As believers, we must not be afraid to speak the truth, even when it may be uncomfortable or unpopular. Let us not be swayed by the whims of the secular world, but let us be uncompromising in our defense of the faith. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, wrote "Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?" (Galatians 4:16). This serves as a reminder that speaking the truth may make us enemies, but we must remain steadfast in our commitment to the truth, even when it is met with resistance or hostility.
We must purge the Church of those who would seek to corrupt it with their heresies and apostasies. For as it is written in Titus 1:13 "This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith."
Let us rise to the challenge and defend the House of God with unwavering determination and unshakable conviction. Let us be fierce in our defense of the Church, for we are the warriors of the faith, the soldiers of Christ, and we shall not falter or fail in our duty to defend the House of God. The Church is the foundation of our faith, the beacon of light in a world of darkness, and it is our sacred responsibility to preserve its purity and sanctity. Let us stand together, united in our devotion to the Word of God, and defend the Church with all that we have. For as it is written in Ephesians 6:13 "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." Let us stand, for the sake of the Church, and for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
