Paul’s warning in Galatians 6:7 is crystal clear: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." This isn't just a gentle reminder, it's a dire warning. If you think you can twist God’s Word and pervert His worship to fit your agenda, you're sadly mistaken. God’s standards of holiness and righteousness are non-negotiable. Trying to reshape His eternal truths to fit today's perverted agenda...that’s outright rebellion against His sovereign authority.
Jesus also warned about those who honor Him "with their lips" but their hearts are far from Him. Yet, these people don't even honor Him with their lips—they openly blaspheme Him with every fibre of their being, mocking Him, and using His name to promote what He hates.
God warned in Isaiah 5:20: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness." This is exactly what’s happening when these fake churches take hymns that once celebrated God’s redemptive work and turn them into anthems celebrating sin. Here, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Charleston rewrites the words to "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" and replaces the lyrics with the following (see clip at bottom):
