There is a lot to criticize Al Mohler for, and over the years at The Dissenter, we’ve done just that. His legacy is a mixed bag, marred by his complicity in platforming woke ideologues like—like SBTS professor, Jarvis Williams—during the early days of the Critical Race Theory infiltration in the Southern Baptist Convention.

Yet, somehow, Mohler’s bungled attempts at walking back his role in spreading this ideological poison pale in comparison to the absurdity now circulating from the obscure, laughably misguided website known as "American False Prophets."

This fringe site, which appears to be associated with the crackpots at “Evagelicals for Harris,” with all the credibility of a late-night infomercial, has seen fit to induct Mohler into their “false prophet hall of fame.”

Why?

Because apparently, in their bizarre fantasy world, acknowledging God’s sovereignty, rejecting the perversion of the LGBTQ agenda, and holding biblically consistent views on abortion makes you a heretic. Al Mohler, a man who has spent decades defending orthodox theology, is now in the same category as the worst charlatans, according to these clowns.

Again, I’m not defending Mohler. He is worthy of criticism and has played a detrimental role in the division of the Church over racial issues and has taken demonstrably unbiblical stances on several key issues over the years. But these aren’t why this site is tagging him.

The first laughable accusation? Mohler is apparently guilty of spreading "partisan pro-Trump rhetoric" and promoting "Christian nationalism" through his podcast, The Briefing. Now, let’s break this down. The man acknowledges God’s sovereignty after an attempted assassination on Trump, and suddenly he’s a Christian nationalist?

Really? Are we now supposed to believe that recognizing God’s control over the universe is a coded message for overthrowing the government? The mental gymnastics required to reach such a conclusion are worthy of an Olympic gold medal in clown-foolery.

And it gets better. They clutch their pearls over Mohler defending Trump after his conviction on 34 charges, branding him as a heretic for dismissing the case as a political stunt.

Oh, the horror! A conservative theologian dares to question the motives of a hyper-partisan legal system, and suddenly he’s dabbling in "transphobia" for saying Trump doesn’t confuse male and female. Well, forgive me, but when did acknowledging the biological reality of male and female become an act of bigotry? The sheer stupidity of this argument is enough to make a sane person’s head spin.
